ASSIGNMENT 2: Creating Video Sequences
Storyboard
I had a lot of fun creating the storyboard, and it ended up being very useful. I will work with it in the future. It came in handy when I needed some reference and to keep track of what I was shooting and what the next scene was going to be. It’s a nice way to work out the shots and keep track of them. You can use it to explain your idea to your team.
Video
I filmed this around my house because it's often difficult for me to leave, as I need to help out; therefore, many of my assignments feature cats, chickens, family, crows, and lizards. I wanted to tell a basic story that started slowly and slowly climbed and ended relatively calmly. It begins with me working in my office when suddenly I get a notification that there is someone in the yard, so I go to investigate. This is the story of slowly climbing. I get bonked in the head, which is the high point. The story then reverts back to inside the office, showing me unconscious, getting dragged away. The music is supposed to help convey calmness. The bird sounds represent tranquility and are intended to contrast with the head bonk. I used a small LED light that sits on top of the camera, and also a light called an Emart. That’s the brand, but it's a small LED with a red slide or gel on the front. I used this to the left of the camera at a 45-degree angle because there was a glare coming off the whiteboard, and this cut it down. It also tones down the brightness in the room. The big challenge I had was sound. There are air conditioners running all over, so all the audio had to be replaced. The second challenge I had was recreating the sound of the pipe striking my head and the sound of me hitting the ground. I downloaded the sound of the pipe hitting my head and the sound of me hitting the ground. I retreated to my office by dropping an empty camera bag onto a mat and recording it with an iPhone.
